Carpet Cleaning Tips
- Everyday our carpets are subjected to a beating from our families and pets. We recommend cleaning every 12 months. Of course if you feel the need you can clean more often-2 or 3 times a year is fine
- People often ask what to do if they spill something. We would recommend get to spills as quickly as possible to reduce the damage caused.
- If you can, soak up the spill with paper towel- or we also find that baby wipes are great for absorbing stains, preferably soap free. In most cases DO NOT add soap such as wool wash to the carpet. This will cause problems long term within the carpet.
- Put a little bit of soda water on the spot and blot up again with the paper towel. If you don't have soda water, then you can use a bucket of warm water with a tiny bit of soap in it. But do not overwet the carpet. Be sure to try and blot up as much as possible, because the longer the carpet takes to dry then the more chance of long term damage. DO NOT put vinegar, bicarb, washing up liquid or anything else that Google tells you. More often than not this causes more problems than it solves

Steam or Dry clean?
This is the age old question. To be honest there is no right answer. Every home and every carpet are different. Steam extraction does give a deeper clean and is able to remove residues such as pet urine more effectively. But sometimes it is not practical due to weather, ventilation etc. Dry cleaning is a very effective method in most residential homes. Our friendly techs will be able to advise on which is the most effective method for your situation.
I'm replacing my carpet so which one should I choose?
Clients are always asking me this question. And my advice is to always buy a Nylon/Synthetic carpet. This is only due to the stain resistance that are built in to man made fibres (nylon/synthetic). Most natural fibres such as wool are more absorbent so therefore are more difficult to maintain. It is for this reason that I will always recommend SOLUTION DYED NYLON carpets in homes
